A Harm-Reduction Tool
This might
help you.Try it.
A small tool you open when a gambling urge hits; it stays with you for those few minutes. Losing isn’t a failure of willpower — you’re up against a billion-dollar design. This isn’t a treatment; it’s something to hold on to against that design.
Three capability layers — only the first is in build today.
NöroKalkan is in development. The description below is how the app is intended to work; no tool switches itself on.
Problem
The crisis begins long before you place a bet.
While the mind quietly hunts for “ammunition” in the background — checking the account, weighing the card in hand — traditional apps still can’t see it.
Passive Surveillance
The loop does not start the moment you enter the game; it starts in the “waiting room” phase, where the mind seeks financial resources and constantly checks accounts.
Detection That Comes Too Late
Existing habit apps only engage after the act has happened, or stay limited to surface-level motivational language.
One Click Away
Money and gambling platforms are one tap away, while the mental barriers needed to stop are almost non-existent.
Approach
Not counting days — keeping the right tool within reach.
Most addiction apps rely on willpower and day counting; that’s enough for some people and not for others. NöroKalkan doesn’t claim to have invented a miracle method — it brings a few things that might help in the moment of an urge (content explaining the mechanism, urge-moment exercises, a waiting delay you set up yourself, a free journal) into one place, in the person’s own language, by their own choice.

The numbers
Around the world, gambling harm is growing faster than the help for it.
Plainly
From here on, this is for people who want to support the work.
NöroKalkan isn’t a venture-backed startup; it’s a small effort run on limited resources and volunteer work. Its only income today is sales of these two books — we may build a revenue model later to make the tool more effective, but this is the scale, and the claim, for now.
Two short novels under the name Arda Giray Işık — both tell the same quiet mechanism, long before the crisis, from inside a story. Buying a copy supports this work directly.
Short Novel — Allegory The Ant and the Vacuum Cleaner Ant, the colony’s best worker, hears a low, warm voice from far beyond the known ground — a voice that asks nothing of it. Across forty nights inside the dust bag, it meets a nameless light that only counts, shows and asks. A short, imagistic allegory of behavioural addiction — written for the one inside, and for the one waiting outside the door.
Philosophical Allegory — Frame Narrative pig'men'T Over three days on his grandfather’s farm, thirteen-year-old Tuan gives a pig a name of his own invention: pig man T. A philosophical frame narrative about colour, masks and memory — set in the same universe as The Ant and the Vacuum Cleaner, another face of the same quiet mechanism. We want to grow this as a community effort — here, every idea carries weight. If there’s something you can contribute, get in touch and let’s grow it together.
